If you guys didn't know, I was at Flash in a Can in Toronto Canada. I had a lot of fun.
Anyway got to see a demo of the new features they are working on for flash. I am sooooo excited for it, I want it to come out now. They are completely redoing how you animate in flash, and it will be 500x easier to animate in it. No more, converting to movie clip, then creating a keyframe in the timeline, then converting it to a tween. Then going in the movieclip to nest the movie clip so you can rotate it, etc. And if you get the motion and timing wrong, you have to completely redo the motion tween.
All that tedium, gone. Just gone. You move an object the keyframe is automatically added to the frame your on and so is the tween.
Now the movments attributes are all separate on your object. and the motion path can be seen and adjusted (without needing to use a guide. Lets say you want the animation to stretch over more frames, you can just click and drag the frame, and it scales the motion of the path proportionately. You can also scale the motion path if say you want it to move farther or shorter distance.
They added more easing options. It's no longer just ease in and ease out.
They added faux 3d, so now you can rotate on 3 axises.
They added this bones-puppet feature. So you can draw your dude, add bones to it, and move the bones, and he will animate, and yo don't have to draw those movements yourself.
Weeeeeeeeeeee, They are completely redoing the how you animate. And while different, it's soooooooo much better. And I'm so excited. I can't wait for it to come out!
Enough about that. Of the speakers, I really loved what Erik Natzke was doing, with coding and art:

Rules/ general guidelines
The audio clip can be no larger than 10 MB in size and no longer than 1 minute and 30 seconds in length.

You have to create every sound that you put in your audio clip. A few short royalty free sound effects and music loops are fine, but no putting in audio clips from your favorite songs, movies, or tv shows, etc.

Along that line you have to write/ improv your own script. Don't read from copyrighted text. Or sing copyrighted music (unless you are doing a paradoy song, in which case you still have to perform and sing the music yourself. ). Though a few lines of copyrighted text is fine, like "luke I am your father." So is acting as well known characters you don't own. "Raito:Guess what time it is L?" L: 3:00? Raito: No it's penutbutter jelly time!"

I prefer things that are funny and amusing. It's not a requirement, but I do partially select who wins this thing.

Content needs to be dA friendly.

You can have multiple people talking in your recording. Doing it with your friends is fine. But the person that submits is the one that gets the "credit"

I lost my train of thought...

Oh yeah...

Have fun! I don't expect this to be quality. I know most don't have access to real sound equipment and sound studio, etc. And sound editing software. I'm perfectly fine, getting clips of you just messing around with your microphone.

though please try and make sure the audio is nice enough that it doesn't make my ears bleed and my brain go dead.

Max of two entries per person.

The submitter must have a deviantart or newgrounds account.
And here's an example of something you could submit is the audio I used for this:
[link] How to enterEmail it to dancer4ever (at) gmail(dot) com, if it's small enough. Or upload it somewhere like Mediafire, and send me a note with the link of where I can get it. Put "Voice acting entry" in the subject line. Please give me your dA username if you email me.
Prizes and winners I will select my top 8 picks, and the winner will be selected through poll.
First place. I will animate it. And they can have a 1 month subscription, or a 8X10 signed print of their choice** from my gallery.
Second, can have a choice of a 1 month subscription or a 8X10 signed print of their choice** from gallery.
General tips on recording and voice acting:
Talk faster than you think you need to and editing out long pauses and ums, will make your audio clip more interesting to listen too. Be careful about letting your voice drop at the end of sentences, that will sound like you are just reading.
Enunciate, so people can understand what you say. And don't overuse sound altering effects, like changing your pitch and adding echo. Unless that's what you were going for.
If you don't have a sound editing software, I recommend using the freeware Audacity
[link]Test out your mic. They are different. I have used ones where you have to be at least a foot away and have it tilted to the side, or you'd get loud wind sounds every time you exhaled.
Moving your head side to side and back and forth will often changed the loudness and it will make your recording sound funny, as your voice comes in and out.
Make sure you are at a good distance so the audio doesn't clip. Clipping is when the input audio is so loud, the program, cuts off the wave, and it will make the recording sound clicky and distorted.
Try and find a quiet place without a lot of background noise. I have a friend that does recordings under his beddings, since it dampens external noise. Though again, if background noise is part of your idea, I'm not gonna stop you.
**Not everything in my gallery is available for print because the quality isn't high enough or I no longer have the file.
