Artist statement:
I feel that my life is empty and meaningless. I am no different than anyone else. I am no one special. I will be forgotten, another nameless soul. Time keeps on flowing. It is continuous, never ceasing. It carries everyone onward and we grow older. One by one we cross the edge, and for the first and last time we are no longer carried forward with the rest.

I decided to draw a series of devil ducks traveling in a line. They mimic the idea of baby ducklings following their mother, but they follow a darker path. They travel on shoes before going onward and over the edge. I feel that shoes show a person’s personality, our material ties to world, and are also symbolize our travel through time. I used a simple white drop cloth for the background and single source lighting, to convey a sense of beauty and monotony of life and to accentuate the beautiful curves of the shoes and rubber ducks.
